MNG secure top honours at the 2023 WA Geospatial Excellence Awards

22 November 2023

MNG were thrilled to accept two awards at the WA Geospatial Council of Australia Excellence Awards, held on Wednesday 15 November 2023.

MNG were awarded the Technical Excellence Award, where we were recognised for our contributions to the Geographe Bay Storm Mitigation project.

The Scope of Works comprised of detailed offshore, nearshore and land survey to develop a comprehensive digital elevation model of the Geographe Bay coastline to enable numerical modelling for coastal hazard risk management.

Meticulous planning was required to maximise the field time with variable weather windows. The data is at the heart of the managing sustainable coastline adaption by the City of Busselton along the Geographe Bay foreshore over the next ten years.

Additionally, MNG were also awarded the Workforce Development and Inclusion Award, recognising our outstanding initiatives in preparing the workforce for current and emerging technology and market needs.

At MNG we acknowledge the important role diversity plays in fostering innovation and strengthens our ability to solve complex geospatial challenges. This year marked the successful completion of our first Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, leading to the establishment of various initiatives, including the introduction of an EDI Policy, training programs, and the commencement of tracking and reporting diversity metrics and data.

Continuous learning and development is a large part of our culture. Our 2023 Learning and Development programs were launched earlier this year and have been designed to provide growth opportunities for all staff, equipping them with the skills needed for today and the future. Our MyLearning program includes monthly lunch and learn sessions and access to eLearning modules. The My Leadership program, a tailored leadership development initiative, involves five full days of training aligned with core capabilities and MNG strategy. Our MyPotential program identifies high-potential staff for a year-long upskilling initiative, including MyLeadership participation, coaching, mentoring, and personal development planning. Finally, our MySkills framework focuses on technical skills for spatial staff, promoting cross-skilling and training. MNG also supports education through scholarships and sponsorships, with the MyFutures program aimed at enhancing Survey and Spatial Sciences career pathways.

A significant milestone was reached in MNG’s journey toward greater diversity and inclusion, with the successful development and implementation of our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Additionally, we proudly joined the Kimberley Spirit Football Program, as Program Partner, extending support to young, aspiring footballers from the Kimberley region by providing access to Talent & Development Programs in Western Australia.

We are immensely proud of our achievements. Congratulations to our team and clients who were actively involved in these projects!
