Up and Coming - MNG Supports Outstanding Students

23rd September 2015

MNG has continued to support and encourage up and coming talent in spatial sciences and surveying in Western Australia with the recent presentation of three tertiary bursary awards.

Three of Curtin University’s brightest students, Lewis Walsh, John Long and Brendan Barnes, were selected and presented with the 2015 MNG Bursary Award by MNG General Manager of Shared Services, Steve Maughan.

The bursary award is valued at $6,600 and runs for one year. It covers student tertiary expenses while studying surveying. For many years MNG has offered annual scholarships to third or fourth year students who are enrolled full time or those who are undertaking Surveying Honours in the Bachelor of Surveying program, within the Department of Spatial Sciences.

MNG Peoples Services Manager Rhonda McFadden said MNG has a long standing relationship with Curtin University to support students through their studies with the provision of a bursary that provides assistance in their learning and ultimately supporting not only the student but the surveying industry in general.

As a supplement to his studies, award recipient John Long has also commenced seasonal casual work as a Surveying Assistant at MNG.
